1 GOG & MAGOG Mystery in Revelation 20 can be a rabbit hole for some who do not see it as fulfilled in AD70. 2 This rabbit hole they go down leads them into a Millennial view after AD70. 3 The thousand years that John used as a signified number that was not to be taken literally all points to from the time Jesus Christ Ascended into Heaven with all of those who were resurrected on the third day after Jesus was crucified. 4 It is what Ezekiel 37 was referring to in the Valley of Dry Bone of Israel’s dead being raised up to life. 5 Hosea spoke of here where they would have followed Jesus Christ in His Ascension into Heaven from Matthew 27:51-53 and there they would reign with Him in His sight and this was the first resurrection that those who were part of it were blessed:
Hosea 6:2 After two days He will revive us;
On the third day He will raise us up,
That we may live in His sight.
Revelation 6:Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
6 Satan was being bound by Jesus Christ during His ministry on Earth and His followers who were alive that remained on the Earth also keep Satan bound. 7 It was not until the Christians of the first century saw what Jesus warned about that when they saw Jerusalem being surrounded with armies from Rome who was the Beast that they were to flee to the mountains so they went to Pella. 8 During this time of three and a half years starting in AD66 they escaped the Great Tribulation that was to come upon Jerusalem. 9 This was the time that Satan was released for a little while to go out to deceive the nations. 10 It was because the Christians were no longer there in Jerusalem that was where Satan was working through the corrupt religious leaders to keep Satan bound in his prison. 11 When the Christians were there Satan was being bound by the truth of the Gospel that was being preached.
Revelation 20:1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
12 The verse that Pre Millennial Preterist get stuck in a rabbit hole is in verse Revelation 20:4. I’m not going to get into these because Rob Cruickshank Jr explains it better that anyone I’ve ever heard so you can get it from him in his video called: The First Resurrection (Rev. 20:4-5) – Bob Cruickshank Jr (2022 Conference).
Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
13 Some will said the beloved city is the New Jerusalem but this is not what the scripture says. 14 It says the beloved city is on the breadth of the earth which was old Jerusalem and it was destroyed by fire in AD70.
Revelation 20:7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
15 The New Jerusalem is seen in Revelation 21 coming down out of Heaven as a Bride. 16 Hebrews 10:9 is a principle of taking away with the natural things and establishing the Spiritual things.
Hebrews 10:9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second.
1 Corinthians 15:46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.
17 This happened when Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in AD70. 18 Here we see in verse 9 that the beloved city is of the Earth and not the New Jerusalem that is in Heaven. 19 The forty years was the 1000 years that John signified in this chapter is connected with Pentecost and David Tabernacle being restored so that the Gentiles could seek the Lord. 20 You can twist these few verses out to say that the beloved city was the New Jerusalem and the saints who were there that the fire that came down destroyed the armies of the world that Satan is the deceive but history tells us differently. 21 I heard from the Pre Millennial Preterist PMP who are Partial Preterist that the beloved city could not have been Jerusalem that was on the Earth in AD70 because God had divorced Israel and called her a whore and Babylon. 22 However God did love Jerusalem otherwise He would have never marriage Israel. 23 King David was a saint who loved Jerusalem and so did many more and they were about to see Jerusalem their beloved city get destroyed in AD70 according to the prophecies in the Book of Daniel and many other places that spoke of the time of the end of the Age. 24 If your wife was about to die would all the family members be standing around her and talking about what a whore and unfaithful wife she was. 25 No, they would be grieving with her as she was about to pass away.
Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
Psalm 135:21 Blessed be the Lord out of Zion,
Who dwells in Jerusalem!
Daniel 12:6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?”
7 Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever, that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time; and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished.
Jesus Laments over Jerusalem
Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!
26 As Israel’s second king, David built a small empire. He conquered Jerusalem, which he made Israel’s political and religious centre. 27 He defeated the Philistines so thoroughly that they never seriously threatened the Israelites’ security again, and he annexed the coastal region.
1 Kings 15:4 Because the Lord loved David, the Lord gave him a kingdom in Jerusalem and allowed him to have a son to be king after him. The Lord also kept Jerusalem safe.
28 So Revelation 20:7-10 is covering what was the fulfillment of the Feast of Trumpets which I have covered in my article called the Fall Feasts Revealed in the Book of Revelation and another one called Journey into the Seven Feasts of the Lord which defines God’s perfect plan of redemption for all of mankind.
Ezekiel 37 with the Valley of Dry Bones in fulfilled in Matthew 27:51-53 as the first resurrection.
Ezekiel 38 & 39 of Gog and Magog speak of the latter days of Israel in AD70 and the true Israel the Church that arises from ancient Israel. The latter days were the last three and a half years known as the Great Tribulation between AD66 – AD70
Ezekiel 38:16You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.”
Ezekiel 39:29And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord God.”
Ezekiel 40-47 speaks of the New Heaven Earth, the Heavenly Temple and ends with the Tree of Life.
29 Here is what the Wikipedia has to say:
Gog and Magog (/ˈɡoʊɡ … ˈmɑːɡoʊɡ/; Hebrew: גּוֹג וּמָגוֹג, Gōg ū-Māgōg) appear in the Hebrew Bible and the Quran as individuals, tribes, or lands. In Ezekiel 38, Gog is an individual and Magog is his land; in Genesis 10, Magog is a man and eponymous ancestor of a nation, but no Gog is mentioned; by the time of Revelation 20:8 Jewish tradition had long since changed Ezekiel’s “Gog from Magog” into “Gog and Magog”.
The Gog prophecy is meant to be fulfilled at the approach of what is called the “end of days”, but not necessarily the end of the world. Jewish eschatology viewed Gog and Magog as enemies to be defeated by the Messiah, which would usher in the age of the Messiah. Christianity’s interpretation is more starkly apocalyptic, making Gog and Magog, here indicating nations rather than individuals, allies of Satan against God at the end of the millennium, as described in the Book of Revelation.
A legend was attached to Gog and Magog by the time of the Roman period, that the Gates of Alexander were erected by Alexander the Great to repel the tribe. Romanized Jewish historian Josephus knew them as the nation descended from Magog the Japhetite, as in Genesis, and explained them to be the Scythians. In the hands of Early Christian writers they became apocalyptic hordes. Throughout the Middle Ages, they were variously identified as the Vikings, Huns, Khazars, Mongols, Turanians or other nomads, or even the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel.
Jerusalem and the Day the Sun Stood Still “1000 Years..?”:
30 Here is a bit of history of Jerusalem that is very interesting that I have never heard of or seen before. 31 The very first time Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible is just after the walls of Jericho come down and taken Ai shorty after. 32 That event was like a foretelling of the destruction of the Temple in AD70 with the Feast of Trumpets being fulfilled. 33 But the first time Jerusalem is mentioned is in the second battle Joshua fought and conquered five Kings and one of them was Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem. 34 During this battle the Sun and Moon stood still for almost 24 hours so that Joshua could win the war.
The Sun Stands Still
Joshua 10: 1 Now it came to pass when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it—as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king—and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them, 2 that they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty. 3 Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying, 4 “Come up to me and help me, that we may attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.” 5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon, gathered together and went up, they and all their armies, and camped before Gibeon and made war against it.
Joshua 10:12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:
“Sun, stand still over Gibeon;
And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”
13
So the sun stood still,
And the moon stopped,
Till the people had revenge
Upon their enemies.
Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.
35 It is interesting to note that the last time Jerusalem is mentioned by Peter he related it to that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
36 The last few words John mentioned the New Jerusalem he says this: had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. 37 This kind of takes you back to Joshua 10 where the Sun and Moon stood still and what Peter said related it to that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
All Things Made New
Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
The Glory of the New Jerusalem
Revelation 21:22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
A Warning
38 Futurist and some Preterist feel fine with tampering with the Book of Revelation placing a long time between the fall of Jerusalem and the Gog & Magog War.
39 That breaks the rule John set in Revelation 1:1 right from the start. Notice here how they will add time into God’s word and take away from God’s word at the same time. John wrote of things that must shortly take place. John did not write the book of Revelation just a few years ago like in 2020.
Rev. 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John,
40 This is something you should take seriously. I know I do but if you think your view of eschatology can get away with it so be it.
Revelation 22:18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
41 I always look at AD70 as the end of when all things were to be fulfilled that the Prophets spoke of. 42 The only things I look at that go beyond that point in time is of all the things that were made new for the New Heaven & Earth as seen in Isaiah 65-66 and Revelation 21-22 other than when people like Jesus or Paul spoke of things that would happen in the Age to come which began in AD70. 43 To allow things not to be finished or done just because someone may claim to have started before the end of the Age is crossing a fine line of adding and taking away from the Book of Revelation and the hottest topic on that is the Gog and Magog War.
44 Ed Stevens has some great articles on the war against Jerusalem during the end of the Age and he gives good reasoning on why the Coming of the Lord began in AD66 and ended in AD70. 45 If this is true then The Day of the Lord very well could have been three and a half years known as the Great Tribulation.
46 For those who believe that the beloved city was the New Jerusalem spoken of in Revelation 20:9 think again. Revelation 21:2 has the New Jerusalem coming down as a Bride for a wedding to marry Jesus Christ, not a warrior who goes to battle with Satan. 47 They got the story all twisted around. 48 It was the Roman Army that was what God was using as His Army with fire that came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 49 God execute Judgment on Satan working through the religious system that killed Jesus and the saints. 50 This also put an end to the Old Covenant that needed to be removed so that the New Jerusalem could be established for the New Heaven & Earth. 51 If you miss this you go down a rabbit hole and will add and take away from the Book of Revelation. 52 It’s just not a wise thing to do.
53 It actually amazes me that there are some very intelligent people out that have a lot of good things figured out more so than mainline Christianity has. 54 I’m speaking of Partial Preterist and a few who claim to be Full Preterist but really are Partial Preterist. 55 I see them all as being Anemic Preterist but I must admit that they have courage to go beyond the limits I have set out to make sure everything I say was done and finished in AD70. 56 Everything that the Prophets spoke of for the Old Heave & Earth should be fulfilled in order for the end of the Age of Corruption to be completed. 57 To extend out way past the time of many centuries into the future from AD70 will allow you to go into a Transcended Full Preterist view. 58 This will take you into the New Heaven & Earth leaving all the former things behind. 59 Otherwise adding or taking away from the Revelation 20 just opens a Can of Worms and is something that all you’ll get is a Can of Crickets on from Daniel, Jesus, Peter, John and Paul. 60 I think I would have gave up long time ago if I had to have everything all figured out. I just aim for the core of important things and then the smaller things either fit in place or they get left behind for other to chaste around with like a dog chasing it’s tail.
Revelation 20:9They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
Revelation 21:2Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
61 Here are a series of verses from the scriptures that stand out to me concerning Jerusalem and the Arc of the Covenant which signified the place where God dwelt.
Joshua 10:40 So Joshua conquered all the land: the mountain country and the South and the lowland and the wilderness slopes, and all their kings; he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel had commanded.
Judges 1:8 Now the children of Judah fought against Jerusalem and took it; they struck it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.
The Ark of God Captured
1 Samuel 4:20 And about the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her, “Do not fear, for you have borne a son.” But she did not answer, nor did she regard it. 21 Then she named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!” because the ark of God had been captured and because of her father-in-law and her husband. 22 And she said, “The glory has departed from Israel, for the ark of God has been captured.”
1 Samuel 17:53 Then the children of Israel returned from chasing the Philistines, and they plundered their tents. 54 And David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem, but he put his armour in his tent.
The Conquest of Jerusalem
2 Samuel 5:4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah. 6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you,” thinking, “David cannot come in here.” 7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David).
The Ark Brought to Jerusalem
2 Samuel 6: 1 Again David gathered all the choice men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, whose name is called by the Name, the Lord of Hosts, who dwells between the cherubim. 3 So they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart. 4 And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill, accompanying the ark of God; and Ahio went before the ark. 5 Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the Lord on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals.
2 Chronicles 1:4 But David had brought up the ark of God from Kirjath Jearim to the place David had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
The Ark Brought into the Temple
1 Kings 8:1 Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the City of David, which is Zion. 2 Therefore all the men of Israel assembled with King Solomon at the feast in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month. 3 So all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.
Jeroboam’s Rebellion
1 Kings 11:33 because they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David. 34 However I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, because I have made him ruler all the days of his life for the sake of My servant David, whom I chose because he kept My commandments and My statutes. 35 But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand and give it to you—ten tribes. 36 And to his son I will give one tribe, that My servant David may always have a lamp before Me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen for Myself, to put My name there.
Daniel 1:1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
Daniel 5:3 Then they brought the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple of the house of God which had been in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them. 4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone.
5 In the same hour the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote opposite the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace; and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
Daniel 5:24 Then the fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written.
25 “And this is the inscription that was written:
MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
26 This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; 27 TEKEL: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; 28 PERES: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”
Jesus Laments over Jerusalem
Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!
Hebrews 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Hebrews 10:9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second.
Revelation 3:11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.
13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’
Gog & Magog War
Revelation 20:7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
The Destruction of Jerusalem
Luke 21:20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
The Day of the Lord in Zechariah
Zechariah 14:6 It shall come to pass in that day
That there will be no light;
The lights will diminish.
7
It shall be one day
Which is known to the Lord—
Neither day nor night.
But at evening time it shall happen
That it will be light.
8
And in that day it shall be
That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem,
Half of them toward the eastern sea
And half of them toward the western sea;
In both summer and winter it shall occur.
9
And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—
“The Lord is one,”
And His name one.
The Day of the Lord in 2 Peter
2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
The Sun Stands Still
Joshua 10:12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:
“Sun, stand still over Gibeon;
And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”
13
So the sun stood still,
And the moon stopped,
Till the people had revenge
Upon their enemies.
